Ed. It is noted that lists submitted to the Shipping Master's Office were for listing the persons on board the vessel when it burthed at the dock. It was up to the Master if any other details were included.

The following notice in The Sydney Morning Herald ( ref. https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper, confirms that the Arno was in Woolloomooloo Bay in January 1908:

The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW), Thursday 9 January 1908
THE ARNO FIXED FOR LONDON
The British ship Arno now discharging a cargo of sugar from Mauritius at Woolloomooloo has been fixed to take the berth for London.
She will load wool and general cargo.

The Arno was later bought by the researcher's great grandfather Nils Andreas Lydersen, who owned her until she disappeared with all hands on a voyage from Fredrikstad (Norway) to Pernambuco (Brazil) in October 1913.

You may view/print a scan of the original list Scan - a monitor set to high resolution is recommended for clarity. Use your back button to return.

Modifications made to scans: In some instances, text was enhanced - there was still an occasional name or list which defied this effort to read it; the Master's signature is usually found at the bottom right corner of the page; some pages have been shortened; excessive black markings have been removed. The last two mods. were to enable the fastest possible display in your browser.
